Cynthia was raised in Logansport, Indiana. After earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in political science from Purdue University, Cynthia attended Indiana University School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor (J.D.). After law school, she spent several years in Georgia, serving clients in and around Atlanta and working as a legal writer for several Georgia legal publications.
Cynthia relocated to the Upper Cumberland area nearly 30 years ago, when her parents retired here, and entered private practice in Crossville. Her passionate belief in protecting the Constitutional rights of the criminally accused led her to accept a position with the Public Defender’s Office, where she spent 15 years vigorously and energetically representing hundreds of individuals accused of all types of crimes, including public intoxication, DUI, aggravated assault, drug crimes, and murder. This opportunity allowed her to practice in all seven counties that comprise the Thirteenth Judicial District – Putnam, Cumberland, White, Overton, Pickett, Clay and DeKalb.
After leaving the PD’s office for private practice, Cynthia practiced in Cookeville for several years, where she was able to provide a wider array of legal services to her clients while still incorporating her vast criminal defense experience. Her goal is always to help her clients, whatever their legal needs might be, and she is well equipped with experience, drive, and dedication to guide clients through the maze of divorce, child custody, civil litigation, criminal defense, wills, probate of estates, and appellate work.
Cynthia joined Griffin Law Group, PLLC in 2023. She handles both civil and criminal matters, at both the trial and appellate court level. Cynthia lives in Cookeville, where she enjoys photography, gardening, and spending time with her beloved English Springer Spaniel, Teddy
